How do I put windows 7 ultimate on a different computer?

Q. I have Windows 7 ultimate installed and activated on my computer. If I bought a new computer and installed it on that, the activation will fail because it is already installed on one computer. How do I deactivate the key from computer A so it can be activated on computer B?
Changing the hard drive will not work, Microsoft blocked this because hard drives can be cloned.

A. Hello,

Rather than attempt to deactivate and reactivate on a different computer, your best bet is to purchase Windows 7 again with a new product key.

Let us know if this helps.

If I upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7, can I choose to erase everything and start over?
Q. Recently I obtained a Windows 7 disk and I want to update my hard drive. Can I choose to wipe EVERYTHING from my old Windows XP and start all over? How can I?

A. To upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7, you'll need to select the Custom option during Windows 7 installation. A custom installation doesn't preserve your programs, files, or settings. It's sometimes called a "clean" installation for that reason.
A custom installation is more complex, and it can sometimes take a couple of hours to complete. We created this five-step tutorial to help guide you through the entire process each step of the way.
What you need

â¢An external hard disk. You'll need to move your files off of your PC before you install Windows 7. To make this easier, we recommend a free download called Windows Easy Transfer, which will require an external hard disk. Theyâre readily available at electronics and office supply stores, and they provide an easy way to add additional storage space to your computer.

â¢The original installation discs or setup files for the programs that you want to use with Windows 7. Youâll need to reinstall your programs by hand after installing Windows 7. When you run Windows Easy Transfer you will get a report that lists the programs that you are currently using with Windows XP.

How do I upgrade Windows 7 Home to Professional?
Q. I have the product key for Windows 7 Professional and the download for it, and I am just wondering if I can do an upgrade instead of having to delete any important files. Both are 64-bit versions.
I didn't even finish downloading it, I'm just asking so I'm not surprised if it doesn't just let me upgrade after running it.
If someone could just answer this question, that would be helpful .. Can I do an in-place installation, or do I have to do a clean install?

A. Yes, you can do an in-place upgrade to Windows 7 Professional. I would burn the iso image of Windows 7 Professional to a DVD and use it and your product key to upgrade. You can also buy an Anytime Upgrade Key and update that way as well.

How do i get a refund for the Win 7 Home Security 2012 scan?
Q. We purchased Win 7 Home Security 2012 and then found out two days later it was a scam. We took our computer to a computer repair place and had it all removed and reset like it was from the factory. We want to get a refund for this scam. Who do we contact?

A. You are correct the Win 7 Home Security 2012 is a scam and the removal program is even more of a scam plus they now have your money.

If you ever get it again it is a fairly easy program to remove.

Go into the safe mode. F8 on boot. Choose safe mode WITH networking.
Download, install, update and run Malwarebytes perform FULL scan.
Here is the link: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarâ¦

Remove all it finds. Re-boot in regular mode run scan again perform Quick Scan

NOTE: this MAY??? cause the file association for exe files to be broken in the registry. If this happens you must fix the registry. SEE this site. http://filext.com/faq/broken_exe_association.php

Make sure you use the right link for your operating system.

As for your question: Stop payment on the Check (If paid by check) Contest the charge with your credit card company if you paid by credit card, or contact Pay-Pal if you used that method.

The company you bought the removal program from is a fraud and their only business is to scam people. You will get NO help from they except to get put on a SUCKER list and your name and e-mail sold to other scammers.

How do I get rid of Win 7 Total Security 2011?
Q. I have a virus on my laptop. I'm currently unable to open firefox or internet explorer on my laptop due to it saying that I am going towards a dangerous site and redirecting me to buy the "full version" of Win 7 total security 2011(I'm on my desktop right now). Because of this I am unable to download programs to get rid of it. Mcafee which I have on my laptop right now is useless. Please help.

A. You will need to Reboot in safe mode with network support, hopefully this will let you download the programs you need: FixNCR, RKill, and MBAM Anti-Malware.

OR, since you obviously can get to a computer to ask a question :) just download them to a USB flash drive.

Here is a step-by-step walkthrough for the fix:

Is there a cost to upgrade from Win 7 Pro 32bit to Win 7 Pro 64bit?
Q. I have a machine which came with Win 7 Pro 32bit + media. I would like to upgrade it now the the 64bit version. I have genuine 64bit media from another machine.

A. Yes there is a cost... purchasing a new 64bit Win 7 os...

You can use your other genuine only if it is a "custom" built and not from a OEM (manufacture, such as HP, DELL, Gateway...etc...) But you cant use them both, you will have to shut down one and install in the other: Legally.

Custom built means you or somebody else built it and purchased a copy of Windows 7 for you.

for OEM versions: These are the versions that comes with Dells and etc... they will ONLY work on with the product key that is pasted on the computer, you can use that product key... they are always on the bottom of laptops.

How do you get through win 7 security program?
Q. This thing keeps poping up saying win 7 security has blocked a program from accessing the Internet. It says I got a virus. And it's forcing me to activate win 7 security. Reg pops up. Have no clue what the reg code is.

A. This is a fake antivirus, and is a trojan malware itself.  Download, install, update and do a full scan with either SUPERAntiSpyware (SAS) or MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) (or both, even -- but one at a time), and let them remove whatever they find.  You'll most likely need to do this in Safe Mode, and you may need to download them on another computer if your internet access is compromised.  You may also need to run rkill to kill the malware process, and maybe rename the SAS and Malwarebytes executables' file names as well.

SAS download:  http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE&rid=3324
MBAM download:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/malwarebytes-anti-malware
Rkill download:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill

There are excellent tutorials on this at Bleeping Computers:

Rkill tutorial:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/how-to-use-malwarebytes-anti-malware-tutorial#rkill

Once it's cleaned up, install a good hosts file to help block unwanted popups, parasites, adware and spyware.  You can read about, download and install an excellent one from http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm   This hosts file blocks hundreds of known malicious URLs.  I've been using one from this website for several years now and rarely get popups and annoying ads.  Revisit the page every couple of months as it is updated from time to time with new sites.

Also, never use an administrator account for day-to-day use.  Always use a Standard or Limited account.  This will limit the amount of damage these things can do, and prevent them from installing by themselves.

Q. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and my windows is activated. Since i have installed Windows 7 i have never enabled Windows Updates as i am unsure that it may deactivate my windows or may hamper working of my non genuine windows. So i want to know if it will be safe to enable windows updates?

A. If your PC has a version of Windows 7 that was activated using activators then it is safe to have Windows Update enabled. The only disadvantage is that Windows Update has an update called
"Update for Windows 7 (KB971033)" that will search for illegal copies of Windows 7 and deactivate them. Just hide this update and be on the lookout for any other updates that require Windows 7 Genuine Validation.
